China’s Jiang Jun has become the first player to secure a place on the World Snooker Tour at this week’s CBSA Qualifiers following a 4-2 victory against Liu Hongyu yesterday (Wednesday) in Beijing.
With three professional spots to be won across two tournaments, Jun defeated Chen Feilong, Long Zehuang and Luo Zetao to reach the final, where he made top breaks of 88 and 52 to defeat the recent World Snooker Federation (WSF) Championship quarter-finalist Liu 4-2 to qualify for the first time.
The event also saw recent World Women’s Snooker Championship runner-up Bai Yulu secure a notable 4-2 victory against former WSF Junior Champio Gao Yang, which included a total clearance of 142, before she eventually lost in the quarter-finals.
The second qualifying tournament is now underway, with a further two places to be won on the World Snooker Tour.
