Bio

John Astley reached the quarter-finals of a ranking event for the first time at the 2016 Riga Masters, losing to Mark Williams.

From Gateshead, Astley first turned professional in 2013 via the PTC Order or Merit, regaining his place after a year away in 2016 by successfully coming through Q School.

In 2014 he was named ‘Rookie of the Year’ at the annual World Snooker Awards at the Dorchester Hotel.

While off-tour, he appeared on stage at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield in Richard Bean’s play ‘The Nap’ in March 2016.
