Bio

Ryan Day is a four-time ranking event winner who has been ranked as high as number six in the world during the 2009/10 season.

From Pontycymer in Wales, Day lost each of his first four ranking event finals between 2007-2017 before he broke his duck at the 2017 Riga Masters with a 5-2 victory against Stephen Maguire.

Later during the same season he would claim his second title at the Gibraltar Open with a 4-0 whitewash of Cao Yupeng and also claimed the invitational Romanian Masters title just a week later.

In 2021, Day became the first player to defeat Mark Selby in a ranking event final in five years to win the Shoot Out for the first time. A year later, he defeated Mark Allen 10-7 to win the British Open, a title that he would describe as the biggest of his career to date.

An ever-present on the tour since 2002, Day has reached the quarter-finals of the World Championship on three occasions, in 2008 ending the reign of defending champion John Higgins with a 13-9 win.

In 2004 Day became the first player to record three century breaks on his Crucible debut, also against Higgins, before losing 10-9.

He has made four professional maximum breaks so far in his career, most notably at the Tour Championship in March 2023.
