The semi-final line-up has now been set in Wroclaw as The World Games enters its final weekend.

Top ranked professionals Ali Carter and Kyren Wilson remain on a collision course for the final as they bookended the day with 3-1 victories against Declan Brennan and Michael Judge respectively.

Carter raced into a 2-0 lead against Nothern Ireland’s Brennan, in a match which was partially broadcast by the Olympic Channel – a first for snooker as a sport.

Brennan, who had seen off Wendy Jans on the opening day, kept his hopes alive by taking the third frame before two-time Crucible finalist Carter secured victory in the next.

Wilson meanwhile looked like going 2-1 down against former professional Judge at one stage of the match, before coming back to steal the third frame on the colours and soon adding the next to secure victory.

Elsewhere during the day, China’s Xu Si survived a comeback attempt from home hope Kacper Filipiak to prevail in a deciding frame, a break of 54 enough to get the former world under-21 champion over the line. Xu will now play Carter in the last four with the winner guaranteed to take home at least a silver medal on Sunday.

Awaiting Wilson is Iranian Soheil Vahedi, who needed little time to see off Swiss pro Alexander Ursenbacher with a 3-1 victory in the third match of the day.

Saturday’s action will see the semi-finals completed at 10:00am and 12:30pm, with the losers to contest the bronze medal play-off match later in the day at 4pm local time. Once again, action will continue to be available to watch here at WPBSA.com.
