Professional snooker returns next week following the festive break with the start of the 2016 Championship League from Crondon Park, Essex.

The ninth staging of the event sees its familiar format of seven groups of seven players return, with a place in next season’s Champion of Champions available for the last man standing in March.

Group one will see multiple world champions Ronnie O’Sullivan, John Higgins and Mark Williams amongst those in action, with all bar one of this season’s participants now confirmed on the tournament website.

As ever, the winner of each individual group will progress to the ‘winners’ group’, with the bottom two players dropping out of the tournament for the remainder of the season. This means that three ‘new’ players will join each group, until the conclusion of the seventh and final regular group in March.

The event will be streamed live online by selected bookmakers, with further details available again on the official homepage.
