Accrington’s Farakh Ajaib qualified for the World Snooker Tour for the first time at the age of 29 in August 2020 by defeating Frenchman Brian Ochoiski 4-2 in the final round of Q School Event 3.
He previously competed in several professional events as an amateur top-up thanks to his position on the 2018 Q School Order of Merit, making his debut at the World Championship qualifiers in 2019, losing 10-7 to Ian Burns.
He has reached the last 64 stage of four ranking event tournaments, most notably the 2021 UK Championship, when he defeated Scott Donaldson 6-4, before losing to Jordan Brown 6-1 in York.
Ajaib first start to play snooker at the age of 12 having tried the game at a friend’s house and competed at amateur level for several years prior to turning professional for the first time. For many years he practised with former professional Shokat Ali at the Elite Snooker Club in Preston.
Away from the baize, Ajaib has worked full-time as a butcher at his father’s shop.
