Barry Hawkins

Bio

Barry Hawkins established himself as one of the most consistent players at the World Championship during the 2010s, reaching the final in 2013 and a further four semi-finals during the following five years.

It is a remarkable turnaround for a player who lost his first six matches at the Crucible Theatre, before he overcame Stephen Maguire 10-9 in the opening round in 2011. The final that he contested against Ronnie O’Sullivan in 2013 is widely regarded as one of the highest quality finals of all-time, with O’Sullivan ultimately prevailing an 18-12 winner.

He has twice reached the final of the Masters in 2016 and 2022, losing to Ronnie O’Sullivan and Neil Robertson respectively at the Alexandra Palace.

Ranking Titles

Hawkins has won four ranking event titles during his career to date, claiming his first after 16 years as a professional at the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open following a 9-3 victory against Peter Ebdon.

He has since added both the 2014 Players Tour Championship Finals and 2017 World Grand Prix – both held at Preston’s Guild Hall – and most recently the 2023 European Masters, where he impressively defeated Judd Trump 8-6 to claim to crown.

Hawkins is also a former winner of the Shoot Out tournament prior to its reclassification as a ranking event.
