Malaysia’s only professional player, Rory Thor as he is known in the west has reached the last 32 stage of a ranking event on four occasions since he first joined the World Snooker Tour in 2014.
In 2014 he won the Asian Snooker Championship to turn professional for the first time. During the 2015/16 season he reached the last 16 stage of European Tour events in Germany and Poland, helping him to earn a fresh two-year tour card from the start of the following season.
He again extended his current stint on the professional circuit by coming through Q School Event 3 in 2018, but was relegated at the end of his two-year period on tour.
In June 2023, Thor secured his return to the World Snooker Tour by securing qualification through the first event at the Asia-Oceania Q School in Bangkok, Thailand. He defeated five players, including former professional Lei Peifan 4-3 in the final round to secure victory.
